What is the Evanjáfrica Scholarship Program?
The Evanjáfrica Scholarship Program is designed to respond to the needs of children and young adults by providing essential resources such as food, shelter, education, and healthcare. Our program aims to build a brighter future for the children and youth of Mozambique.
Who benefits from the program?
Children living in our orphanage
Children from impoverished families who attend our school
Teens and young adults from the orphanage and impoverished families who do not have the financial means to further their education after secondary school
Why sponsor a scholarship with Evanjáfrica?
We are heavily invested in the life-long physical, spiritual, and educational development of each child and young adult in our scholarship program, and recipients receive the love, support, care, and encouragement of our ministry staff, school faculty, and church family. The generosity of our sponsors has already enabled past orphanage graduates to become teachers, nurses, community development workers, lawyers, administrators, pastors, accountants, chefs, electricians, mechanics, repairmen, and one doctor. Several of our university graduates hold leadership positions in our orphanage, school, and church today as they take the lead in mentoring and empowering the next generation. Your partnership helps us continue caring for vulnerable children and equipping young Mozambicans to transform their communities and nation.
How does the scholarship for children work?
Children living in our dormitories attend our school and receive three healthy meals a day, housing, medical assistance, school supplies, uniforms, hygiene supplies, and 24-hour loving care from our staff. Children living with family members are provided with transportation to and from school, a large healthy meal during school hours, school supplies, clothes, uniforms, medical assistance, hygiene supplies, and a food kit for their families.
How does the scholarship for young adults work?
The law requires kids to leave the dormitories at age 18 to reintegrate into the community. Without a plan, this transition can put them at great risk. To ensure their safety, Evanjáfrica has been running a transition program for over 15 years. We rent houses and host these young adults while they attend vocational schools, colleges, or universities, and prepare for jobs that will provide financial independence. They receive supervision from Evanjáfrica coaches and mentors, learn and practice life and money management skills, and have a bank account opened in their name for the first time. This program equips our young people to establish lives where they can thrive and become important members of the community.
How much does it cost to sponsor a child?
Sponsoring a child in primary school costs $50 per month and sponsoring a child in secondary school costs $60 per month. This covers meals from Monday to Friday during school hours, school supplies, uniforms, medical assistance, and transportation to and from school. How much does it cost to sponsor a young adult going to trade school, college, or university?

Programs range from vocational training in accounting, mechanics, plumbing, or culinary arts to nursing and teaching colleges to university programs in education, medicine, law, and business.
